About Me

I am an author and RSPCA Inspector from Norfolk.

I have been investigating animal cruelty and neglect and rescuing sick and injured animals for 20 years. I am passionate about improving animal welfare and although I have to deal with a lot of  very difficult and often emotional situations, I love what I do and I get to meet all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds as well as making a real difference in the lives of animals. I have been featured on The Dog Rescuers with Alan Davies and made an appearance on Pet Rescue back in the early 2000s. I have been lucky enough to have been interviewed on The One Show and I have done many local TV and radio news interviews. The variety and surprising nature of my career provides some of the inspiration for themes and characters that can be found in my fictional work. I have a degree in English Literature and Linguistics from The University of York and I took a creative writing course after graduation.

More than just Books.

I have always wanted to write. I have been an avid reader my whole life and have been making up my own stories since I could talk. Every time I read a wonderful book that moves me, I am inspired anew to attempt to move people in a similar way. I am thrilled to have finally achieved my dream to have a novel published and have already begun work on the sequel, which I can’t wait to share with the world. I try to do most of my writing outside. I have a double camping chair that I take out onto the lawn and I sit at one end, with a canine companion on the other side. My current loyal hound is Bonnie, who has endless patience and desire to sit by my side for as long as it takes.

I have a noisy, chaotic home life, with a husband, 5 children and a house full of rescued animals. We live in an old cottage in a rural village in Norfolk and I am happiest outdoors, growing fruit and vegetables in the garden, walking the dogs and family holidays usually involve walking up mountains in summer, skiing down them in winter and sleeping in a tent whenever possible.  I love spending time with my large, noisy, chaotic family, cooking meals for friends and playing board games. Finding time to write can be a challenge but I have finally realised my dream and my head is full of ideas for more.
